About Me

My name is Indie Kotyk, I'm an 18-year-old aerial photographer living in Courtenay on Vancouver Island. I have years of experience flying my drone all over North America in places like Florida, Saskatchewan, and Las Vegas. I have a love for drones, and I've been fascinated by them since I was little, it has always been my dream to turn this passion into a business and now I'm making that a reality. History

I was born in Canada but grew up in Austin, TX, and on the Caribbean island of Grenada, which is where I first discovered my interest in photography. I used to challenge my family to photography competitions, where we would run around with an iPad and whoever took the best picture in 20 minutes won. My family became friends with a couple, Nick and Dariece, who run a travel blog called Goats On The Road. One day, when we were hiking together, Nick pulled out a DJI Phantom 1 from his backpack and began flying it high in the sky to take photos. I was completely fascinated; I had never seen anything like it before. Since then, it has been my goal to have a drone of my own to fly just like Nick.

Equipment and Certification

I use my DJI Mini 3 Pro which I have had for two years and become completely accustomed to, I know the ins and outs of the device and all its features. The professional drone weighs in at exactly 249 grams which means that the rules for normal drones do not apply, so I can fly it virtually anywhere (excluding no-fly zones) as long as I stay under the local limit and operate with caution.
